Misunderstood

At some point in our lives, we all experience instances in which we feel misunderstood; as if we don’t belong.

I have a video blog called the “Quirky Californian.”  I feel as though it sums me up perfectly. From the silly facial expressions to the expressive hand gestures, I am zany and bizarre and unconventional, peculiar even.  I do not fit into any mold. I am the antithesis of normalcy.  Most of the time I embrace it, but sometimes it can be quite isolating. Others misunderstand my intentions because they don’t really get what motivates me. I am in a constant state of analysis because I want to make sure that I do not offend my brother or sister while attempting to make my point. Social norms typically keep me from being invited to the “party” and always have. I have tried to be a chameleon to fit in but, I find that I am not being true to myself, which becomes even more isolating.

Do you ever find yourself feeling completely alone? ENCOURAGE YOURSELF and SNAP OUT OF IT!

You have purpose to fulfill!

Genesis 1:26a says “Then God says, let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;”. We were made in the image of the King 👑 of Kings and the Lord of Lords!

Psalm 139:14 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” He took the time to create us intricately, uniquely and with complexity. Every facet of our being was well thought out!

1 Peter 1:9 says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” We are the Lord’s most precious of possessions, His children!

1 John 3:1 says “See what love the father has given us, that we should be called His children. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.” We are sons and daughters of the most high God, because of His great love for us! What an honor!

The truth of the matter is, people simply won’t always understand us. And, that is ok 👌🏾 We have to continually remind ourselves of how truly special we are in His sight despite the hills, valleys, temptations, trials and naysayers. We may not look or act like everyone else but perhaps that is why He created each and everyone of us. No one can fulfill the purpose the Lord has ordained for me quite like I can and the same is true for you.

Throughout the years, the Lord has begun to show me who He has created me to be. Characteristics that others find to be negatives, I have been able to see as positive attributes. I am hyper sensitive but, that has enabled me to empathize with others. I live much of my life denying myself simple pleasures that others can casually enjoy. This is because if I didn’t, my life would be in disarray.

When we make the decision to completely surrender our lives to Him, He transforms our negatives into positives for His Glory! Maybe no one can pray quite like you can with the intonation or inflection that makes the Lord’s heart warm in just the right spot. Perhaps your smile is so contagious or your embrace is full of a compassion that no one else can emanate.

Be true to the person God has created you to be. Trust in the Lord with all your heart ❤️ and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Psalm 3:5-6

Focus on what makes you unique and let God exploit that for His glory!

Prayer:
Heavenly Father help us to remember we are not alone along this journey. Help us to seek you out consistently and fervently not only during those times of what feels like isolation, but also during the highs of life. Allow us to be comfortable with being who you have called us to be! In Jesus’s holy name, Amen!
