We have had so much rain in the last couple of days here in Texas. That would not be so odd if it werent June! The rainy season in my home state of California occurs during the winter months. Needless to say, I am utterly thrown off by summer storms.
The storms of life come at the most inopportune times. You may feel as though you have gained momentum in an endeavor and then a storm comes and completely throws you off of the the course that has been charted. I used to hate any scripture that referenced storms. They scared me because I hadn’t yet been through one. The Bible says that we do not receive immunity from experiencing them, and to be honest, I didn’t really understand their purpose. We shouldn’t live our lives in fear of a storm but rather in a state of preparedness. How often do you commune with the Lord? What is your prayer life like? Because one thing we can be certain of, is that they will come.
If the storms of life don’t come how else do we grow? There is a maturation that comes with weathering a storm. Sometimes we fare gracefully and sometimes we are holding on for dear life. But, once we are on the other side, we come to the realization that God has placed more strength inside of us than we knew. There is a sense of accomplishment and an enlightening.
The sufferings of life come to make us stronger. Our trials produce endurance which produces character which produces hope. Romans 5:3-4
HOPE in the the One who brings kings to their knees. Daniel 2:21
HOPE in the One who quiets the storms with mere words. Mark 4:39
HOPE in the One who fulfills all of His promises. Philippians 1:6
HOPE in the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Psalm 146:6
Heavenly Father when the unexpected storms of this life come let us remember that our source of strength comes from You. Help us not to be afraid but rather weather the storm anchored in your promises. In Jesus’s Holy and Righteous Name Amen!
